Belleview Light Rail Station
Pedestrian Tunnel
Denver, CO • 2007
By gluing 4,000 roadway reflectors to the walls and ceiling
of Belleview Station’s pedestrian tunnel, this space became
“Thunder Over The Rockies,” the first reflectorized
art tunnel in the world. When I visited Denver to do research
for this project, I was greeted with a spectacular display of
earth, air, fire, and water in a dramatic event of thunder,
lightning and rain. The unique convergence of the high plains
meeting the Rockies, western culture intertwined with native
influences, and the artwork depicting ghosts of herds of wild
buffalo running along the freeways is what inspired “Thunder
Over The Rockies.” |
