Reflections On The Columbia is made up of two murals composed
of thousands of reflectors directly glued to two water tanks owned
by the city of Pateros. This project was sponsored by the Pateros
Chamber of Commerce and was paid for through private donations. Design
on one tank is a stylized waveform representing the Columbia River
and the other tank has diamond forms representing the surrounding
hills and mountains. One of the goals was for the water tanks to be
more integrated into the sagebrush-covered hillside. In the past the
tanks could be seen from two miles away. Now the artwork camouflages
the tanks so they are no longer seen from that distance.
Reflections On the Columbia was restored in time for the 2nd anniversary of the fire.
